More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider
I play guitar and percussion and run Samba drumming workshops with Brazilian percussion for schools. I work with children and young people from nursery to key stage 5.
I am also an Arts Award Adviser currently providing support to music practitioners and partners.
Training & Experience
I first trained as a community musician with The Sage Gateshead in 2002. Since then, I’ve delivered workshops in over 70 schools including special schools.
My work with children in challenging circumstances has involved delivering personal development programmes for young people who are not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) using the Arts Award, music and other creative activities. I have delivered workshops with young parents, young offenders, looked after children, and young people with substance abuse issues. These workshops have enabled young people with no previous experience to create work that is pleasing whilst having fun, gaining confidence and learning new skills in the process.
I am co-director of a small Not for Profit organisation called small world Big Drums providing music workshops for adults with physical disabilities and complex needs.
I believe that music and creativity can transform lives and this passion drives my work.
I have an enhanced DBS and public liability insurance.
Samba Drumming and African Drumming workshops.
My workshops are suitable for children and young people from nursery to key stage 5 and for SEND.

“Staff and children have really enjoyed working with Tim. He has the children eating out of his hand and many classes have included drumming in their class assemblies. The staff find Tim very approachable, full of ideas and keen to help them develop their own teaching skills. We would thoroughly recommend Tim, both to work with the children and to support staff development.”
“I think it’s just fantastic; it’s opened my eyes as a member of staff and also the children’s eyes. It just shows when children with special needs have the opportunity to experience a project like this how much they can put into it and how much they get out of it.”
“The work that Tim provided was of a very high standard and was appropriate for the wide age range and ability of each group. In addition to providing musical inspiration, musical participation and enjoyment for children at these out of school clubs, Tim also provided musical training for out of school club staff with little or no musical experience and confidence.”
