More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider

Your School’s enriching Learning Outside the Classroom experience starts here!

Time to get the children active and explore some of the following learning outcomes; Team Work, Communication, Problem Solving, Self Confidence, Motivation, Learning Skills

Adventure education usually involves collaborative learning experiences with a high level of physical (and often emotional) challenge. Practical problem-solving, explicit reflection and discussion of thinking and emotion may also be involved.

How effective is it?

Overall, studies of adventure learning interventions consistently show positive benefits on academic learning. On average, pupils who participate in adventure learning interventions make approximately four additional months’ progress. There is also evidence of an impact on non-cognitive outcomes such as self-confidence.
The evidence suggests that the impact is greater for more vulnerable students and older learners (teenagers) and those in a ‘wilderness’ setting, though other types of intervention still show some positive impacts.

Free teacher previews

We are always delighted to show teachers around The Tournament Ground Outdoor Activity Centre, this is also a great opportunity to meet the staff who are responsible for ensuring that you have a great time with us. You will have the opportunity to see the range of activities available and familiarise yourself with The Tournament Ground Outdoor Activity Centre. This may also be a requirement of your Local Authority. Previews are FREE for school party leaders. Just get in touch and we’ll be happy to arrange a visit at a time that suits you.

Risk assessments

We operate comprehensive risk assessments for all of our operations - including all activities, learning programmes, firesafety. Dynamic risk assessments are carried out on an on-going basis by instructors leading each activity, to reflect on-going changes to conditions. All of our risk assessments can be viewed on request.

Testimonials

"We had an amazing time at the Tournament Ground. The events were all well instructed, safe and exciting. It's hard to pick out a highlight; however, it's always a good sign when the kids are (excitedly) talking about their day with big smiles on their faces...the return bus was buzzing. Even though it was wet and cold they still loved the day. The pupils/cadets I saw on Friday all went out of their way to say thanks for the day. I hope it wont be too long before we can return. Best Wishes, John Alexander"
