Northern Ireland Assembly – Educational School Trips

Inside Parliament Buildings

Welcome to Parliament Buildings, home of the Northern Ireland Assembly since 1998.

Parliament Buildings is located on the Stormont Estate in East Belfast. Everyone is welcome to visit the public park and Parliament Buildings itself. You can see the Assembly at work, from Monday to Thursday and public tours are available every day.  Alternatively, take our online tour to explore where MLAs, make lawsdebate issues that concern the people of Northern Ireland and ensure that Ministers in charge of Government Departments do a good job.

Visit us and learn about the following:

  • Who Are Your MLAs?
  • How a Law is Made
  • The Assembly Story

  • How do we elect MLAs?

Outreach – beyond Parliament Buildings

Our outreach services have been suspended due to Covid – 19.

We know that not every school can visit Parliament Buildings. However, you can bring the Assembly to your classroom by taking part in our Outreach Programme.

We will come to your school or group anywhere in Northern Ireland to deliver an interactive presentation and activity session. We have designed the presentation and activities to help your students understand the role of the Assembly and encourage them to have their say.

The Outreach Programme is open to primary and post-primary schools, other educational organisations and youth groups. Typical programmes last 60 minutes and can be adapted to suit your particular group’s needs.

We can invite your local MLAs to attend these sessions, to work with the pupils and answer their questions.
