Set within 5 beautifully restored period buildings, one of which dating back to the 16th century, this unique hostel offers a selection of dormitories and private rooms on Dundee’s bustling High Street.
Centrally located, the Dundee Backpackers boasts the pedestrianised centre, with numerous shops, restaurants, museums, pubs and clubs, right on its doorstep. Within walking distance you can visit popular attractions such as Discovery Point, Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre, McManus Galleries, Dundee Rep Theatre, Dundee Law, and very soon the brand new V&A Design Museum. Furthermore, the bus and train stations are both within a 5-minute walk of the hostel.
Each building reflects the style and character of the time in which it was built. There are featured fireplaces, plaster cornices and windows of all shapes and sizes. All of the buildings even have their own little ‘museum’ full of information and artefacts from the buildings' history.

Dundee Backpackers Hostel
I have stayed in a few hostels before but this one surpasses them all. Firstly, you could not get a more central location if you tried. It is right in the middle of the high street so everything is on your doorstep. The building is very old but has been restored beautifully, with lots of information on the walls about what it used to look like. A friend and I stayed in a private twin room without ensuite, but not having our own bathroom was not a problem at all as there are plenty of shared ones, all of which have hot showers and are spotlessly clean. And it's not just the bathrooms that were spotless, our room was too; and the communal areas get professionally cleaned very regularly. Overall if I was staying again in Dundee, I would not at all hesitate to book this hostel over a hotel, simply because I do not believe they could match the facilities, cleanliness and value this one offers.
