More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider
In 2021 Salisbury Museum, following up to date government guidelines, still offers a varied Learning Programme for pre-schools, schools, colleges, universities, and community groups.
Working within government guidelines, we have been able to create risk assessments for both school visits to the museum and outreach by the museum to your school.
We work to the latest government Covid safety guidelines, which means doing lateral flow tests the evening before a school event and all material used is thoroughly cleaned and quarantined for 72 hours before and after a school visit. The museum has a separate risk assessment in place and guidelines for the regular cleaning of the building to keep it covid safe.
Our museum’s range of facilitated sessions available for primary schools is as follows:
- The Amesbury Archer
- Old Sarum and The Normans
- Pottery – Archaeology and Art
- Romans
- Saxons
- Surviving the Stone Age
Sessions can be adapted to all Key Stages and abilities. We welcome SEN enquiries, community groups and other organisations. Please find our most recent risk assessment including COVID-19 safety measures here.
The museum’s collections support a wide range of subjects. It is worth asking if you have a topic which you think we may be able to assist with. The museum is also a rich resource for any visual arts project for any age or level of study.
Our facilitated sessions are hands-on, promoting learning through enquiry.
For GCSE, A-Level and other post-16 students our collections support a wide range of study areas — Archaeology, Art (painting, ceramics & textiles) and History of Art.
NEW FOR 2021 - In August this year we will be unveiling a brand new FASHION GALLERY featuring over 250 years of fashion, a dynamic new interpretation of the collection which explores our relationship with clothes. Get in touch to see how a visit to this stunning new gallery could make your school topic absolutely fabulous!
