More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider

For over 30 years Scarabeus Aerial Theatre has created spectacular, unforgettable and transformative aerial theatre performances and participation projects that reach audiences, communities & young people. Our work can happen anywhere, the sky’s the limit.

Through our various programmes, we use aerial theatre & skills, yoga,  physical theatre and movement to build confidence, improve physical and mental well-being, promote learning and inclusion for all participants.

Flying into Physics is a brilliant exciting new way of teaching physics to KS2 children through aerial flying, raising the profile of science in schools, inspiring children to enjoy science and engineering.

Using exciting and creative aerial techniques to explore physical forces, pulleys and levers Flying into Physics makes science approachable and accessible for a wide range of learners, including those who typically feel less inspired by science.

The programme is available in 2 versions:

  • Covid-19 safe delivery model with minimum or no close interaction between children and staff from Scarabeus, known as the demonstration model
  • Practical delivery model; where pupils will get to actively take part in aerial sessions applying learning through practice

What we deliver:

  • Teacher CPD session with Science Specialist
  • Teachers Aerial session
  • Flying into Physics sessions for young people focussing on exploring flying, exploring forces at play & exploring pulleys, pulley systems & levers

Thanks to the generous support from our funders we are able to offer this programme free to schools in certain London Boroughs. Please contact us for more details.

“What an amazing way to learn about forces!”
Sarah Eames, year 5 science lead.

“Because forces is a very abstract concept , any opportunity to engage children in a practical way is going to greatly enhance the learning”
Jo Moore, Fellow Primary Science Teachers Trust

“I learnt about the science behind forces in a fun and creative way.” “It’s a fun, exciting experience that feels like you’re really FLYING! Plus you learn a lot too.” “It’s very interesting to learn about forces and get really involved in them.”
