Welcome to Pontefract Castle
Pontefract Castle is a place of family-friendly adventure, with wide open spaces to play and fascinating ruins to investigate. We've also got free make and take resources available for children to collect from the Visitor Centre during weekends and school holidays!
The Castle grounds are open as normal for you to enjoy with friends and family. Entrance to the castle is FREE and you do not need to book. The Liquorice Cafe is also available for takeaway food and drink Wednesday to Sunday 10am until 3pm.
We want everyone to feel confident and safe when visiting Pontefract Castle. We have therefore followed VisitEngland guidelines in order to ensure that it is safe to visit and many of our safety measures will remain in place after 19 July.
We ask all visitors to make space for others who may feel uncomfortable without social distancing in place.
