More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider
Tropical Birdland
Nestled on the northern outskirts of Desford village in Leicestershire, Tropical Birdland is a 6.5-acre sanctuary for Parrots and exotic birds. Housing over 250 feathery residents, every square inch has been devoted to giving a home to some of the most alluring and captivating species from around the world.
The Parrot Path
The Parrot Path is a great place to get up close and interact with the birds. Beware! some of our naughty birds love to steal jewellery! You might also catch a Citron Cockatoo eyeing up your buttons!
Play Area
Situated next to the real macaw restaurant and the picnic area you will find our play area. This was newly built in 2013 and has proven to be a big hit with the children and adults alike. Sit back and relax with a cuppa and maybe a bite to eat whilst your little monkeys blow of steam!
The Real Macaw Cafe
You may have already been feeding the birds, so now its your turn to be fed and watered. Visit our cafe 'The Real Macaw'. Our ever changing menu provides real food and drink at real prices.
The Chick Room
Get a great view of our newly born chicks. You may be lucky enough to watch as a young chick breaks out of its egg! Although the chick room is not open to members of the public for the safety of the babies, all the chicks can be viewed at close range through the large windows.
Gift Shop
Before you go home why not take a look around our gift shop at Tropical Birdland. From pocket money presents to more expensive items, we have a wonderful range of products for sale all year round.
Walk-through Aviaries
Some of our soft-billed birds are housed in the main walk through aviary. Here you will be able to spend as much time as you like looking for all the different species so bring your binoculars! Many of the birds love meal worms and will come up close if they see you have them. See how many different birds you can spot!
The Goats
Our latest arrivals may not be so tropical, three pygmy goats. Elvis, Lucy and Bambi.
Woodland Walk
Why not venture 'off road' into our beautiful natural woodland? All kinds of native wildlife, trees and shrubs can be seen here. Woodpeckers, kingfishers, jays and squirrels are just a few of the animal species you may come across in this natural green habitat.
