More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider
I play guitar and percussion and run African hand drumming workshops with African djembe drums for schools. I work with children and young people from nursery to key stage 5 as well as special educational needs.
I am also an Arts Award Adviser currently providing support to music practitioners and partners.
Training & Experience
I first trained as a community musician with The Sage Gateshead in 2002. Since then, I’ve delivered workshops in over 70 schools including special schools.
My work with children in challenging circumstances has involved delivering personal development programmes for young people who are not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) using the Arts Award, music and other creative activities. I have delivered workshops with young parents, young offenders, looked after children, and young people with substance abuse issues. These workshops have enabled young people with no previous experience to create work that is pleasing whilst having fun, gaining confidence and learning new skills in the process.
I am co-director of a small Not for Profit organisation called small world Big Drums providing music workshops for adults with physical disabilities and complex needs.
I believe that music and creativity can transform lives and this passion drives my work.
I have an enhanced DBS and public liability insurance.
