More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider
The Workshop Company teaches circus skills workshops and is run by Nikki Kennett, a circus arts performer with over 20 years experience in the contemporary circus industry. As a professional dedicated to the industry, Nikki has toured the world performing in the outdoor arts sector and at many high profile events.
Her dedication and love for the arts and the benefits it brings to people, has led her to develop a unique circus workshop company. The Workshop Company specialises in using the teaching of circus skills as a way to encourage children and adults to communicate better, develop concentration and listening skills, play and most importantly to gain confidence in their physicality.
We teach circus workshops in primary and secondary schools as well as adult team building days.
Nikki has curated a team of sought after circus arts professionals who help run and create memorable, engaging and fun circus workshops. All have been or still are active within performing professionally in circus arts. This makes them excellent at engaging their circus workshop participants and gives them a depth of skill that is unrivalled.
All circus arts performers that work with The Workshop Company have enhanced DBS certificates and public liability insurance. We can provide evidence of these as well as our company risk assessments.
At all Workshop Company events our team are dressed smartly in our branded polo shirts. We understand that many people feel nervous at the thought of traditional clown attire, rest assured that this isn’t how your circus trainer will be dressed!
Secondary school students spend many of their years preparing for their exams. Circus workshops can help equip the students with confidence in approaching their studies by helping them develop their concentration whilst having fun. Our circus trainers use the circus equipment to help pupils will also focus on collaborative tricks and skills as well as individual ones encouraging team work and communication between the pupils.
Circus skills are also excellent for students who dislike or lack confidence in traditional sports. It’s frequently not the sportiest pupils that grasp juggling or plate spinning the quickest! The variety of equipment taught in our workshops really levels the playing field allowing every student to succeed at something new. Logic and listening skills are just as key as co-ordination.
Where some students don’t perform well at athletics and competitive sports, circus skills can help gently improve their physicality whilst distracting them from feeling self-conscious. It isn’t necessary to change into sporting attire to participate. Our workshops particularly beneficial to students who find it difficult to engage in extra-curricular activities.
