Rutland Water is a large, horseshoe-shaped reservoir set within three thousand acres of beautiful countryside in the east midlands region of England. Anglian Water owns and administers the reservoir, and around its twenty-five mile perimeter there are four leisure areas. Three are on the north shore at Barnsdale, Whitwell and Sykes Lane. Cruises exclusive to Schools are offered in the mornings only, to a minimum of 30 pupils. There can be some flexibility regarding timing, but the cruise must be arranged to finish at least fifteen minutes before the commencement of the afternoon public sailing times. Morning Cruises are suitable for pupils on a general outing or for those engaged in key-stage studies. There is also a choice of cruise duration; either thirty minutes or forty-five minutes.
