Offering school and group poetry workshops, I am an experienced primary teacher with BA English (hons) degree from the University of London and PGCE from Brunel University. I worked for 18 years in the Slough and Windsor Maidenhead schools from Foundation through to KS3. Whilst teaching, I wrote my poetry, started a writing project and have run 'New Beginnings' poetry workshops in a secondary school and KS1 and KS2 poetry workshop classes in primary schools. I have also delivered empowering poetry workshops, working with children in Cape Town South Africa, for the Amy Biehl Foundation www.amybiehl.co.za through the charity www.uthandosa.org. At the opening of the Isiseko Educare Centre in Mfuleni Cape Town, I had the privilege of reading one of my poems.
I have worked and completed poetry workshops with schools in Slough Libraries. There have also been some really fun drama, art filled poetry workshops at Slough and Cippenham Library too. A while back I delivered a complimentary poetry workshop on empowerment for women from the charity www.meet&mingle.co.uk. KS3 'Transition' poetry workshops was facillitated in Parmiters School, Nr Watford and KS3 Identity workshop at Forest Gate Community School, London E7.
In and around London I completed a number of workshops including a brillliant one in Hemel Hempstead. A number of returns to South Africa and Hout Bay, saw me working and volunteering poetry workshops with Ikhaya Le Themba ' Home Of Hope' a non profit charity organisation www.ikhayalethemba.org.za/volunteers.
I have also I facilitated a wonderful session of workshops at Woodhill Primary School, Woodhill, Greenwich, London. A lovely primary school, in Anguilla BWI, permitted me to share and discuss my poetry in an impromtu read aloud session.
KS3, KS1, KS2, Creative Poetry Workshop Sessions. Identity, Freedom, Emotions, Human Rights, Black Civil Rights, Rights Of A Child, Conflict, Moving On, Transition, Dragons, Super Heroes, Extreme Weather, Environment, Nature.
I can come and deliver my cross curricular poetry workshops and using drama and role play, give your pupils (primary and senior) the freedom of writing poetry. Everyone of all abilities, including pupil premium groups can participate, from those requiring support to the most able. They can 'break all the rules of writing and grammar', because it's all about choices and how they want to use words and shape 'their poems'.
