More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider
The Cathedral has a fascinating history that stretches back over a century and a half – and we’d love to share it with you. Whether you’d like to soak up our stories by taking a guided tour, bring your students on an educational visit, or delve into our rich archives, you’ll find our Cathedral is a fantastic resource for the whole of our community, and our many visitors.
In this section, you can find out about how to take part in one of our our educational programmes, how to unearth some of Liverpool’s social history in our archives, or simply read about the people who shaped our own story, and the Cathedral building itself.

This is a stunning building with floor to ceiling coloured glass panels lighting up the interior. In the centre is the altar immediately below the stained glass lantern from which is suspended a modern steel interpretation of the Crown of Thorns. There are many metal wall sculptures around the perimeter symbolising the Stations of the Cross as well as several small chapels. This is a most striking building which looks best on the inside. Outside the cathedral looks like an upturned funnel and is known as Paddy’s Wigwam.
