The Marble Arch Caves and its environs are a natural classroom born over millions of years, shaped by the power of nature and much later by human activity.
We value and encourage environmentally, socially and financially sustainable approaches, guaranteeing visiting schools a safe and healthy learning environment in which students can grow. Primary Schools
We will work with you to ensure that your visit compliments classroom based learning and your curriculum. We not only provide children with an educational visit but also with a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Activities
Woodland Wonders Studies 4 to 6 year olds
Activities and Fieldwork include:
- Learn what a habitat is.
- Discover what animals and plants are found in the woodland.
- Search for woodland invertebrates using various sampling methods including pooters and nets.
- Living in a woodland habitat.
- Mini-beast hunt and species identification using simple keys.
- Tree and plant identification.
Limestone Landscapes
Activities & Fieldwork includes:
- How limestone rock is formed
- What fossils are and the types of fossils found in Ireland
- How fossils provide clues to our past
- That our landscapes have undergone significant change in
- What a cave is
- The formation of caves and limestone features
- The concept of chemical weathering and erosion
