LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Birmingham has collaborated with LEGO® Education to provide unique, high quality learning experiences and a variety of activities to make your school trip one that they will remember.

SPINNING TOPS

LEARNING AND OBJECTIVES

Exploring the effects of gearing, and balanced and unbalanced forces on the movement of an object. Can you build a device that can make a spinning top spin? What changes can be made to make it spin for longer?

CATAPULT

  • Key Stage 2
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths
  • 45 mins
  • 25 pupils per session
 

LEARNINGS AND OBJECTIVES

Focusing on engineering and technology, students apply knowledge and skills related to structures, engineering design, weight and counterweight, and fair testing via construction of a LEGO Catapult.

SEESAW

  • STEAM, Science, Technology, Maths
  • 45 mins
  • 25 pupils per session
 

LEARNINGS AND OBJECTIVES

Demonstrating the scientific principles of balancing forces, energy, levers and pivots via the creation of a Seesaw build. Students predict outcomes of experiments involving experimentation with weight.
