More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider

Our History

Kickstep was founded in 2006 by sisters Etta and Verity Bell.

Both dancers, actors and yogis, they discovered a love for teaching their passion to children and it grew from there.

From two employees we have grown to a team of 20 passionate, inspired and experienced teachers, working in over 100 schools across London over the last 8 years.

We are dedicated to increase self esteem, confidence and fitness in our next generation.

We offer EVERY type of dance, yoga, capoiera, meditation, fitness and arts as clubs, workshops and holiday programmes.

We can tailor your programme or workshop in any way you want, so please get in touch if you have an unusual request.

HISTORY OF AFRICAN DANCE WORKSHOP

Many of our most popular dance styles came from Africa; Tap dance, Hip Hop, Salsa, Charleston, Lindy Hop even Zumba, so this workshop involves an introduction to the history, how slavery shaped our dancing now, with the group listening to the music from each era and learning a very short routine from most of the dances, and then understanding how tap evolved from slaves being forbidden to take their feet off the floor, it then evolved to charleston, then to Lindy hop, then to Hip Hop! A fascinating journey through history
