Hobgoblin Theatre Company's history programme is second to none!

With 8 different interactive plays we have something for everyone. We write and produce all of our shows especially to complement the Primary History Curriculum. Each play features 3 actors playing a variety of fun and engaging roles using a script that we have written to include loads of interesting facts presented in a creative and original way.

Each show features"interactions" during which the actors stop the action and sit down to talk with the audience about the story they are watching. It gives the children an opportunity to explore the themes of the play and further expand their knowledge and understanding.

We also follow the shows with drama workshops led by the actors that allow the children to continue their topical learning in a fun, creative and engaging way.

The plays that we offer are:

"Prehistoric Park" - STONE/BRONZE/IRON AGE

"The Curse of the Mummy" - ANCIENT EGYPT

"Perseus and Medusa" - ANCIENT GREECE

"All the World's a Stage" - TUDORS

"The Workhouse Boy" - VICTORIANS

"The Thompsons' War" - WWII

If, for any reason, you are unable to have a live performance in school, we have a high-quality filmed version of each of these shows available for streaming.

A really fantastic performance. The children were enthralled. Liked the interaction and the storyline was appealing. It covered many of the aspects we had covered in our Viking studies. Really good for children to discuss the play as it went along and to discuss characters - will really help with future creative writing. Fitted our 'creative curriculum' philosophy. Thank you. Will definitely book again. Really enjoyed it. Worth every penny.

Another great show! I felt there was enough in it to keep Reception children engaged whilst also stretching the older children (and keeping staff amused!) The actors were very polite and helpful; it was a pleasure to welcome them into school. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon - it was such a pleasure to look across at the children beaming with enjoyment! Many, many thanks!

Thank you for a wonderful day! Everyone immensely enjoyed the whole school play at the start of the day and it got everyone excited and looking forward to their drama workshops. All of the classes thoroughly enjoyed their workshops and found them fun and engaging. You were very organised, arrived in lots of time to set up and meet staff and were very accessible to contact. I would definitely recommend you to other schools. Thank you!
