At Grafham Water Centre we have been providing high quality learning outside the classroom activities for more than 40 years. Schools, Colleges and youth groups return to GWC year after year because we have great outcomes, experienced instructors, real learning in a fantastic location, and excellent value for money and a personal touch.
We strive to offer quality and value for money. Groups that visit GWC benefit from a broad range of challenging outdoor adventurous activities, lovely location, well designed facilities and most important of all, our enthusiastic and experienced staff team.
At GWC we are proud to be signatories to the Manifesto for Learning Outside the Classroom and hold the quality LOtC badge and AHOEC GOLD badge.
At the heart of all our work is our vision to change young people’s lives. We are passionate about challenging young people creating opportunities for real adventure and learning. To succeed in life we believe that young people need to develop their skills to be resourceful, resilient, good team players, problem solvers, adaptable and confident. Outcomes like these are natural results of challenging outdoor activities. Adventurous activities and outdoor learning also lend themselves to supporting many parts of the National Curriculum, especially those parts of the curriculum that are challenging to deliver in a classroom environment.
Personal development at GWC not only occurs as a result of the activities but is also encouraged by GWC staff who work with groups to set goals and review their learning on a regular basis. To deliver quality activities we place a high priority on staff continuity, low staff ratios and small group sizes.
