Exchange Education teaches languages through theatre workshops

Languages for Schools

-Language for Kids (one off event or regular classes) KS1

The aim of this course is to teach basic languages to young children. We use songs, little games, pictures and music to make French accessible to this age group. After few classes, you’ll be surprise to hear the children count and even ask you how you are in another language! A class lasts thirty minutes and we can take up to 12 children per session.

-Language for Pupils (French, German, Spanish) KS2, KS3

The aim of this workshop is to show young students that they can understand and talk Spanish, French or German more than they think. The whole workshop will be in the chosen language and will encourage them to use the vocabulary they know and learn some more. We can easily adapt the games and drama activities to the level of the students and your choice of vocabulary. The class is ran  by two workshop leaders. It can last 1h or 1h30 take up to 28 children per session.

-Language for Students GCSA A levels

Languages for students was designed for secondary and A level students.  In line with our education approach to share and discover, we adapt the present literary works in keeping with the school curriculum. It allows students to go deeper into the author’s work with the use of improvisation, acting and glimpses of directions. The workshop can be 1h or 1h30 and it needs a minimum of five sessions. The more sessions you have, the more the bigger the student’s input will be! We finish the sessions with a theatrical performance of our collective work.

You can also check out our French Tales page, a story telling session in both French and English, ideal for EYFS and KS1

About us:

Exchange Theatre is an international company established in 2006 in London. Since its creation, unknown or rare French-speaking plays were imported, translated and produced by the company. With the use of a strong visual imagery, live music and multilingualism, Exchange Theatre’s productions offer you the opportunity to share a true sensorial experience.

Not only does Exchange Theatre’s team practice their passion, but they also want to share it. Beside the professional company, Exchange Theatre has developed an educational branch in keeping with its main philosophy. Provided by professional actors, the workshops will enable children and adults to discover or rediscover classics and contemporary pieces, to awake a sense of play and to boost their personal development.

Exchange has been providing weekly classes for my nursery for some time now and we think they are fantastic. They have masses of energy and a natural gift of teaching the children in a fun and enthusiastic way !»
Stacey Wittingham, The Square School, London

An enjoyable experience for the students. They had a lot of fun and it was great to see them performing in French. This workshop has enabled them to see languages as something fun, enriching, maybe challenging but not insurmountable.
Sarah Decroucq, St Peter’s School, Bournemouth

Thank you so much for visiting us today. Your performance was absolutely fantastic and genuinely funny. I will definitely recommend you to other teachers and keep you in mind for future events.
Rhiannon Pattison, St Catherine School, Twickenham
