More about this Workshop/Service and the Provider

Bore Place is the perfect setting for learning about the world around us. We believe that education around sustainability, global citizenship, healthy eating, as well as understanding where our food comes from, is important at all ages.

Bore Place is a 500 acre organic dairy farm with a market garden and other areas to explore including woodlands, ponds and meadows, making it a fantastic venue to get your pupils outdoors learning about the countryside, and finding out about food, farming and the environment.

Our purpose-built facilities include classrooms, cooking areas, toilets and hand washing and free parking for coaches. Each school is provided with a classroom space for use throughout the day with cloakroom facilities including pegs for personal belongings. Outdoor lunch spaces are provided for use during good weather, and alternative indoor space is available for inclement weather.

Day Visits

We offer a wide range of tutor led activities for primary and secondary schools that enhance learning in a range of curriculum areas, including science, geography, history, design and technology, and art and design.

Curriculum-Linked Activities

Full range of programmes and detailed itineraries can be viewed on our website and cover EYFS to KS3 curriculum subjects.

Most programmes are suitable for wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility. Teachers are welcome for pre-visits and risk assessments are provided for each programme at the time of booking.

There is no VAT on day visits and no charge for accompanying adults.

Contact Becky Baldock using the form below or call 01732 463255.

Need help with costs or transport?

Bore Place is committed to being an affordable educational venue. We offer a subsidised rate for small class state schools and classes with a high number of children receiving pupil premium.

Buses4U, a not-for-profit charity run by East Surrey Rural Transport Partnership, offers very competitive prices to schools in a number of areas.

Residentials

Outdoor Learning and Farm Adventures at Bore Place!

Set within 500 acres of organic farmland, Bore Place has diverse landscapes to explore during an extended school residential visit, with fields and meadows, hedgerows, ponds and woodlands. Indoors we have purpose built classrooms, toilets and handwashing facilities as well as different accommodation options to suit different group sizes and budgets.

Activities

Our tutor-led programmes offer fun, safe, curriculum-linked activities with options for you to tailor your school visit to your own topics and learning outcomes. Our activities are focused on outdoor learning designed to allow the children to connect with each other and their environment. We want children to learn, grow and be inspired through their experiences.

Accommodation and catering

We offer two accommodation options to suit your budget and group sizes. We take a vegetarian approach to eating, using seasonal, organic and locally-produced ingredients (including produce from our own market garden), and consider the impact of our food choices on the environment and our planet. We create healthy, balanced meals and snacks for hungry children and can cater for special dietary requirements.

Special Needs

Specialist schools and special needs education at Bore Place

Building on decades of work with specialist schools, we make use of every aspect of our grounds including the ornamental and veg gardens, kitchen, farm, woodlands and art workshop to tailor programmes that develop essential life and work related skills for young people.

Our SEND programme is appropriate for a wide variety of pupils, but especially those who enjoy developing practical skills. We liaise with you to make the programme appropriate for your students' needs, adjusting level of content and pace of delivery as required.

You can visit us once or on a more regular basis throughout the year. We also offer residential facilities for stays on the farm.

We are experienced in working with augmented communication systems – Makaton/sign along and Communicate in Print, and our site is accessible for wheelchair users. We are happy to show staff around our site and discuss their particular needs or requirements. Please contact Julie Easy using the contact form below or call 01732 463255.
