School trips at Longridge

Set in a unique riverside location near Marlow, Buckinghamshire, Longridge provides a range of exciting water sports and land-based activities aimed at young people of all abilities.

Our environment is perfect for Schools, providing a fun, challenging and safe environment for pupils and schools to visit from across the UK and enjoy our unique blend of water and land-based adventurous activities. Longridge is equipped to offer both residential and day visits. We have schools that come and stay with us for two weeks and bring entire year groups, and schools that just come for a day of Team Building in September so that their new Year Sevens can get to know each other. Some local schools have also chosen to run after school clubs at Longridge to give their students a chance to try out some different activities or even use them for their PE GCSE. We can work together to create the visit that suits your needs, all you have to do is get in touch.

Longridge has been in operation for over 50 years and our world-class facilities are now used by 85,000 young people each year. Longridge is set in a fantastic Thames riverside location, boasting 12 acres of beautiful water meadows near Marlow, Buckinghamshire. We have our very own private island perched in the Thames, which is ideal for kick-starting the ultimate Swallows and Amazons experience. Taylor Island also provides us with a sheltered backwater in which young people can experience the river with confidence.

Our well-equipped bunkhouses accommodate up to 87 young people with separate staff rooms and facilities, or why not pitch up under canvas on our secure campsite, where we have camping for up to 500.

We are approved by British Canoe, the Royal Yacht Association (RYA) and British Rowing and provide vocational training courses that can lead to an accredited qualification.  You can build a recognised course into your residential stay with us or for those schools close to the centre we can create a bespoke course running over a half-term.  We are also able to support your Y11 pupils with their GCSE PE qualification sport modules.

All of our activities and training courses are fully risk-assessed and are reviewed annually.

You can download our Risk Management and Child Protection policies, if you require any specific risk assessments our Bookings Team will with pleasure forward these to you.

Longridge is accredited by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) and the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), and we believe we are the best outdoor education facility in the UK. We encourage young people to develop water skills as well as important life skills such as leadership, self-discipline, confidence and respect.

Residential Trips

The ultimate way to enjoy our beautiful site is to stay with us, either on one of our campsites or in our bunk house accommodation which can accommodate up to 87 young people with separate staff rooms and facilities. You can either choose one of our packages, details of which are below, alternatively our Bookings Team will help you create a bespoke itinerary special to you and your school. We want you and your pupils to have the best possible experience with us, so let us know what you want to achieve and we can make sure that your programme is perfectly suited to you.

Catering

Getting active and having fun is sure to work up an appetite and you can choose from full board or self-catering options.

Full board is provided by our own team of caterers who have years of experience in catering for young people, providing simple, tasty menus that can be adapted to suit many dietary requirements. Seating is in our Café and our covered outdoor dining areas.  Alternatively you may wish to self-cater.  Our Training Rooms have a small kitchen which can be used in conjunction with our Training Rooms for indoor dining.  Or we have a larger outdoor kitchen which is perfect for those camping with us.  Some groups choose to do a combination of both, using the self catering kitchen to provide breakfast and lunch, allowing our team to prepare a hot meal in the evening.  The choice is yours.

Packages

You are very welcome to create, with our Team’s help, your own itinerary.  Alternatively you can pick one of our day or residential packages below which sorts out the activities during the day for you.  In the evening you can either add in additional activities – we run activities up to 9.15pm or bring in your own entertainment – over the years our visitors have bought in magicians, petting zoos and circus acts. Our training centre also has a variety of rooms that you can use if you need to have a study session whilst you are here, or even just to use as a communal space to watch a film in the evening – (0r you can just sit and enjoy our rather beautiful setting).

Contact

With so many options on offer, we appreciate that booking a school trip can be a daunting task – so please get in touch with our bookings team and we will help you plan your perfect visit. Email using the contact form below.

Testimonials

Excellent range of activities. Spacious grounds. Lake with boats. Rock climbing. Zip wire. Go kart track. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Easy reach from London.
Amera Farooq

An amazing watersports and adventure facility hidden down by the River Thames in Marlow. Originally a national Scout Centre, now privately run, it's a fantastic place for birthday parties with activities such as kayaking, raft building, crate stacking, laser tag and climbing. Also a campsite, which is beautiful down by the river but avoid the plots near the road as they are noisy at night. Ask for the camp sites at the other end.
